Andrew Murray –
“to enjoy this new life, nothing is as necessary except faith in the blood of Jesus… the blood alone has done everything.”
1 Peter 1:18-20 The Passion Translation (TPT)
18 For you know that your lives were ransomed once and for all from the empty and futile way of life handed down from generation to generation. It was not a ransom payment of silver and gold, which eventually perishes, 19 but the precious blood of Christ—who like a spotless, unblemished lamb was sacrificed for us.[a]
If God can accept the blood as a payment for our sins and as the price of our redemption, then we can rest assured that the debt has been paid. If God is satisfied with the lamb and the blood that was shed, then the blood must be acceptable to us as well!
Charles Spurgeon wrote –
“the blood was accepted, and sin was forgiven. And now, soul, it is not possible for God to reject thee, if thou comest this day to him, pleading the blood of Christ. God cannot—and here we speak with reverence too—the everlasting God cannot reject a sinner who pleads the blood of Christ: for if he did so, it were to deny himself, and to contradict all his former acts. He has accepted the blood, and he will accept it; He never can revoke that divine acceptance of the resurrection; and if thou goest to God, my hearer, pleading simply and only the blood of Him that did hang upon the tree, God must un-God himself before He can reject thee, or reject that blood.”
Heb. 9.11 (NLT) So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that great, perfect sanctuary in heaven, not made by human hands and not part of this created world.
Heb. 9.12 (NLT) Once for all time he took blood into that Most Holy Place, but not the blood of goats and calves. He took his own blood, and with it he secured our salvation forever.
Heb. 9.13 (NLT) Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow could cleanse people’s bodies from ritual defilement.
Heb. 9.14 (NKJV) how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
In the Greek, the tense for the word “cleanse” denotes a present continuous action. This means that once you are a believer, the blood of Jesus Christ keeps on cleansing you!
So you can rest knowing that you are always in this continuous “wash cycle” of Jesus’ blood. Because you are continually cleansed. Of course, you will fail here and there and sin, but you are still in the light because the blood is continuously washing you!
1John 2.1 (NLT) My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if you do sin, there is someone to plead for you before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who pleases God completely.
If you have sinned, remind yourself that Jesus’ blood keeps on cleansing you from every sin – 24 hours a day, seven days a week – and move on with God! The devil cannot defeat you when your faith is in the blood that cleanses you continuously.
Its been said, “there’s not one thing in me the blood does not cleanse.”
Jesus Was The PERFECT Lamb Of God.
The Question In The Ot Was “Where Is The Lamb?”
The Answer In The Nt Is “Behold The Lamb!”
Our Cry Throughout Eternity Will Be “Worthy Is The Lamb!”
Rev. 5.12 (NKJV) saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
Let’s look at this from exodus…
Ex. 12:1 (nkjv) now the lord spoke to moses and aaron in the land of egypt, saying,
Ex. 12:2 (nkjv) “this month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Ex. 12:3 (nkjv) speak to all the congregation of israel, saying: “on the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.
Ex. 12:5 (nkjv) your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.
(Relational before functional) – dwelt among them
Jesus five days was being examined. Found no fault
Ex. 12:7 (nkjv) and they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.
Ex. 12:12 (nkjv) “for I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the lord.
Ex. 12:13 (nkjv) now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
The hebrew word for passover is pesach, which means “to pass or hover over.” this word speaks to us about two things…
Only those households with the blood of the Passover lamb on their doorposts were spared.
Jesus also celebrated the Passover the night before He was crucified. But He was instituting the greater Passover. This time, it was not deliverance from Pharaoh and Egypt, but from Satan and his kingdom of darkness! It was not deliverance from slavery in Egypt, but from a life of bondage to sin to a life of liberty as free men in Christ!
1cor. 5:7 (Nkjv) therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a NEW lump, since you truly are unleavened (clean). For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
Jesus was the living fulfillment of every legal requirement of God’s righteous standard… He was the Passover lamb, the lamb that God had chosen so we could be freed from the wrath to come and enjoy a new and perfect relationship with the Father.
Jesus, the Lamb of God, sacrificed Himself to set you free. And when the Son sets you free, you are free indeed!
The devil will always make you feel that you are not qualified or clean enough to go near God. But the truth is, regardless of how you feel and what you have done, the blood of Jesus Christ has made you clean.
So let me close with this exhortation –
Rev. 12.10 (NLT) Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, “It has happened at last—the salvation and power and kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ! For the Accuser has been thrown down to earth—the one who accused our brothers and sisters before our God day and night.
Rev. 12.11 (NLT) And they have defeated him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of their testimony. And they were not afraid to die.
We overcome Satan when we testify personally to what the blood of Jesus has done for us.
the word of the testimony –
“I PLEAD anf FULLY believe in the blood! I testify to the prevailing, overcoming power of the blood of Jesus — and I proclaim I am free from any accusation and receive all that Jesus has for me!”
