This morning we conclude another series. But I want you to know I am very excited that when I stand up here because I SEE God working in you and on you… God is doing something unique in each of your lives. To some, it may appear more evident than others, but never judge God moving in your life by comparing yourself to another!
“Comparison is the THEIF of Joy” – Franklin Roosevelt
Jesus helps us understand the process of God working In us,
Mark 4:26-28
26 Jesus also told them this parable: “God’s kingdom realm is like someone spreading seed on the ground. 27 He goes to bed and gets up, day after day, and the seed sprouts and grows tall, though he knows not how. 28 All by itself it sprouts, and the soil produces a crop; first the green stem, then the head on the stalk, and then the fully developed grain in the head.
So PLEASE don’t compare. Don’t look at another person in this room or on social media and go, I need to be more LIKE THEM… ACT LIKE THEM… TALK MORE LIKE THEM… WORSHIP MORE LIKE THEM… DRESS MORE LIKE THEM…
Yuck.
Be you, BE who God made you. Enjoy the uniqueness of who you are. And embrace and enjoy the work that God is doing within you.
Some of you are like, WHAT WORK justin? I don’t see God working in my life!!!
Paul prayed for the Philippian church and gave us insight into what God is doing,
Phil. 1:6
6 I pray with great faith for you, because I’m fully convinced that the One who began this glorious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you and will put his finishing touches to it until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Do you BELIEVE this? I so hope you do. Because I believe it so much for each and everyone of you. Better than that, Jesus believes in the work He is doing in your life through the power of the Holy Spirit.
So HOW do we partner with God in our personal transformation?
What part are we to play?
How do we start walking more and more in this New Man?
I want to spend our time together this morning diving into the transformation process that God takes us through. The process is the same for each, but it looks different for everyone.
It is important to understand and know that you are NOT trying to become this New Man. You are a new man!!!
There is no striving, no performing, no achieving to become this new man. Your old man died on that cross with Jesus. You are dead to your old man and now made alive unto to God.
Colossians 3:3-4
3 Your crucifixion with Christ has severed the tie to this life (old man), and now your true life (New Man) is hidden away in God in Christ. 4 And as Christ himself is seen for who he really is, who you really are will also be revealed, for you are now one with him in his glory!
So stop trying to attain.
Stop trying to earn God’s love.
Stop trying to achieve.
Stop trying to impress God..
Stop trying to become who you already are.
