Here is one of the things that drive me. As a pastor. As a teacher. As a friend. It breaks my heart, but I see it often…
Hos. 4.6 (NKJV) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Because of a lack of knowledge, the enemy has stolen something vital from many of you here today…
Some here just don’t know about what I am going to share.
Others have just flat out rejected for whatever reason.
And some have failed to receive it because of their view of God and self.
Most of us were taught, we get it all when we get to heaven. Peace, joy, victory over sin, freedom etc… That just make it until Heaven, but that is a the reason for the struggle we live with. Jesus didn’t just die so you could “endure” until heaven until you walk in those things. They are those now!!
Most believe…
• We are going to have “rest” when we get to heaven and have no circumstances.
• We are going to have victory over when we get to heaven.
• We are going to be overcomers when we get to heaven.
• We are going to have peace with God when we get to heaven.
• There will be no more failings and struggles when we get to heaven.
• We have nothing on this side except failure, struggle, discouragement and weakness.
What about?????
Being complete in Christ. (Col. 2:10)
Being more than a conqueror (Rom.8:37)
Doing all things through Christ that gives you the strength. (Phil. 4:13)
No more condemnation for those who are in Christ. (Romans 8:1)
We now have peace with God. (Romans 5:1)
What about???? Jude 24
Jude 24 (NKJV) Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
For over 15 months we have attempted and was intentional about laying a foundation. One of identity and discovery of who God is. And I don’t think we ever finish laying a foundation.
We just finished a series on fulfilling the ministry you have been given. My hope and desire is that you are beginning to see the awesome ministry and giftings God has given to you.
But please remember we are called to SOMEONE long before we are called to do SOMETHING…
Psa. 27.8 (NKJV) When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”
But we cannot boldly approach and intimately relate to the Father until we know and understand the truth I will share with you today. There is a reason many of you struggle to approach God. To be intimate with God. To pursue God. And to RECEIVE from God.
Today, I believe your life will make a major shift. IF…
1. You receive God’s gift.
2. You open it up.
3. You respond accordingly.
Paul reminds us that the gospel reveals something very important…
Rom. 1.16 (NKJV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Rom. 1.17 (NKJV) For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
the righteousness, which the gospel offers me, is God’s own righteousness in which I can now stand in right relation to Him forever.
My guilt is taken away because it was borne by Another on the Cross, and God’s righteousness was given to me in grace.
“Revealed” means “to uncover what has been hidden.”
From faith to faith. Think of faith as the act of putting on a parachute.
Remember, we defined faith as RESPONDING to what God said and to what Jesus did for us on the cross.
ITS TIMES TO WAKE UP!!! And receive a gift that only God can give. And the gift allows us to relate with Him as Jesus did and it also gives us the power we need to overcome sin and struggle.
1Cor. 15.34 (NKJV) Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
1) awake to righteousness… & 2) do not sin…
The word “awake” means… “to awake sober out of a drunken sleep; to come to one’s senses (prodigal son) and to arouse oneself out of a stupor”… an entrance into a new condition, with an emphasis on the urgent need to do it now.
• You have been… judged according to the lamb sacrifice and made righteous.
• You have been… acquitted, found not guilty, and restored to a right relationship with your heavenly father.
• You have been… declared legally innocent and pronounced forever righteous because of the blood of Christ.
Rom. 5.17 (NKJV) For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
The word “reign” means: to rule as a king and exercise kingly power, to have complete authority, and the right to control in an absolute manner.”
Do you reign over your emotions or do they reign over you?
• To reign is to live in peace…
• Peace of mind and heart…
• Peace with God…
• Peace in the midst of circumstances…
Is. 32.17 (AMP) And the effect of righteousness will be peace [internal and external], and the result of righteousness will be quietness and confident trust forever.
“quietness” means: to be undisturbed, to be at rest, to be tranquil, to have unworried ease, to sink down into rest and to be quiet and gaze…
You have the “right” to stand before God. He made that possible through Jesus Christ.
Today, I hope to show you through the Bible what that means and how free from sin you really are.
His gift of righteousness is not an excuse for us to sin and get away with it – This gift of righteousness is good tidings of great joy – Don’t let things other than truth define your life – It’s truth that makes you free. If you understand the good tidings, it’s great joy. If we’re not having joy, we don’t really understand the good tidings. We’re letting other things determine our lives. We are giving ourselves to a lot of other things – our minds – our emotions – what people say, etc. Sometimes one little thing that an important person says can rock your world because we don’t have this established.
Righteousness is the reality (permission) to stand in the presence of God with no guilt, no condemnation, no shame, or an ounce of unworthiness… (I am not talking about feelings here)
But also the freedom to stand in the presence of the enemy without any sense of inferiority, weakness or fear…
Many of us have lost sight of our right standing…
When we focus on being who God made us… then we will produce the fruit he desires from us…
Our standing in Christ cannot be improved upon (100%)… But we can learn to better walk in it!
the righteousness of god cannot be earned;
it cannot be obtained by religious deeds,
and it cannot be achieved by a person’s strenuous effort…
nothing you can ever do, no matter how religious, can make you righteous…
Once I receive this gift of Righteousness… God gives me permission to declare, “my relationship with my father has been restored”
Rom. 5.1 (NKJV) Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Rom. 5.2 (NKJV) through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
A divine exchange was made…
2Cor. 5.21 (NKJV) For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
The word “made” means: to bring into existence, to become… it signifies the entrance into a new condition.
Why don’t we see more believers reigning?
Rom. 10.3 (NKJV) For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
Rom. 10.4 (NKJV) For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
Now… you are called to reign… in your righteousness… What does reigning in life look like?
Mark 4.36 (NKJV) Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.
Mark 4.37 (NKJV) And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
Mark 4.38 (NKJV) But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Mark 4.39 (NKJV) Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
